Asian & Arabic Food Shops, Town by Town
Basmati by the sack, masalas, kimchi, Filipino brands, Turkish cheeses and olives, and fresh halal meat counters — the ingredient shops Malta’s communities actually cook from, verified in 2026.

Two Different Pantries, One Page
Malta’s ingredient shops fall into two families with two different shopping lists. The Asian stores serve Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Korean, Thai and Chinese cooking — basmati, dals, masalas, noodles, sauces and frozen ranges. The Arabic and Turkish stores serve Middle-Eastern and Turkish cooking — olives, cheeses, breads, sweets and spices — and in Malta they are usually also the halal butcher. This page routes you to the right family; each family page gives the full store-by-store detail.
One honest distinction runs through both pages: a store that sells halal-labelled packaged brands is not the same as a store with a halal meat counter. We say which is which for every store, and we never present a purely grocery store as a halal store.

Asian Grocery Stores
Eleven verified businesses and 18 storefronts: Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Korean, Thai and Chinese groceries, from the island’s biggest Asian supermarket chains to single-shop specialists.
- Wenzhou — Gżira, Mosta, Swieqi, Xewkija (Gozo); the biggest Asian operation, with its own e-shop and Wolt delivery
- Asia Food Store — Gżira and St Paul’s Bay; strong Korean, Japanese, Thai and Filipino ranges
- Namaste India — Msida, Ħamrun, Birkirkara; Indian grocery wholesale and retail, no real website of its own
- Bismillah Pak Foods Halal — Gżira and Buġibba; Pakistani grocery plus a fresh halal meat counter

Arabic & Turkish Grocery
A smaller, tighter family — and the one with the direct halal claim. In Malta the Arabic and Turkish food shop and the halal butcher are usually the same premises, so this guide covers both under one roof.
- Akdeniz International Mini Market & Butcher — San Ġwann (plus a Sliema branch); Turkish groceries with a halal meat counter, sold via Wolt Market
- Turkish Mini Market — Msida; Turkish and Balkan food products, with its own website
- Spice Bazaar — San Ġwann; grocery and halal butcher under one roof

Quick Answers
Grocery in Malta — FAQs
Where can I buy Asian groceries in Malta?
Start with Wenzhou (Gżira, Mosta, Swieqi and Xewkija in Gozo), Asia Food Store (Gżira and St Paul’s Bay) and Namaste India (Msida, Ħamrun and Birkirkara) — together they cover Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Korean, Thai and Chinese cooking. The Asian grocery guide lists all eleven verified stores town by town.
Where can I buy halal meat with my groceries?
Bismillah Pak Foods Halal (Gżira and Buġibba) pairs Pakistani grocery with a fresh halal meat counter, and the Arabic and Turkish shops — Akdeniz and Spice Bazaar in San Ġwann — combine groceries with a halal butcher counter. For butchers alone, see our Halal Meat in Malta guide.
Is there an Asian grocery store in Gozo?
Yes — Wenzhou has a branch in Xewkija, Gozo, with Wolt delivery there. It is the only Asian grocery branch on Gozo we could verify; the rest of the island’s Asian shopping happens on the main island, mostly in Gżira and Msida.
Which grocery stores have no website of their own?
Namaste India has no real website — only a Google business listing — which is why it is a strong candidate for a dedicated HalalMalta page. Several single shops (KL Suq, Orient Express, AWM, Little India, Spice Valley) likewise have no website found. Stores with their own online shops — Wenzhou, Asia Food Store, Bismillah and Turkish Mini Market — are named as such on the family pages.
